Open Science Community of Victoria
Welcome to the Open Science Community of Victoria (OSCV)
The Open Science Community of Victoria (OSCV) is a collaborative initiative between the University of Victoria (UVic) and Royal Roads University (RRU). This cross-institutional, multidisciplinary community exists to promote open research practices. View our Community Statement, Guiding Principles, and Code of Conduct to learn more.
The community organizes events such as lectures, workshops, panels, and show-and-tell sessions that address current topics in open science. These events serve as focal points for interaction between members and the academic community, providing opportunities for outreach and advocacy.
OSCV is proud to be part of the International Network of Open Science & Scholarship Communities (INOSC) which is a collaborative network of communities that connects and supports local and regional Open Science and Open Scholarship initiatives around the world. To learn more about INOSC, watch the introductory video or read their whitepaper.
What does OSCV hope to achieve?
OSCV aims to drive cultural and institutional change by bringing together and supporting people interested in Open Science, Open Scholarship, and open research practices. We hope to promote cultural change by creating awareness of the importance and advantages of Open Science, empowering individuals to solve problems together, and joining forces on existing approaches.
Who is OSCV for?
The community is intended to be inclusive and welcoming to individuals of all expertise levels and backgrounds, including university faculty, graduate students, undergraduate students, postdocs, and support staff from UVic and RRU as well as community members.
