Open Science Community Parkstad

The Open Science Community Parkstad is a collaborative hub promoting open science practices in the Parkstad region. We unite individuals from various institutions and citizens with a shared connection to our region, cultivating integrity, diversity, openness, and accessibility in scientific research. Our objectives are sharing knowledge, building networks, and driving positive change at all levels and factors of behaviours. We aim to develop a supportive environment enabling members to translate motivation into action and democratise research. We welcome everyone, regardless of their role in research, to join us in advancing open science initiatives and contributing to a vibrant and inclusive community. Our success is defined by reaching a broad audience, celebrated internally through event participation and trust, and externally reflected in increased open science practices in the Parkstad region. Our ideal community embodies inclusivity, diversity across various characteristics (e.g., gender, sexual orientation, ethnic-racial identification, religion and worldview, health and disability, care work, socio-economic position, and age), and shared core values (i.e., integrity, diversity, and openness). As we communicate our identity to the world, we express ourselves through various channels and elements, aligning with the Dutch Open Science Communities in the Netherlands while promoting bilingual communication to embrace diversity. The Open Science Community Parkstad stands for transparent scientific exploration, dedicated to shaping a better future for the Parkstad region and beyond.
