First Edition of Kennis Maken: National Citizen Science Expo – October 2, 2025

On Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 09:00 to 18:00, the very first edition of Kennis Maken: National Citizen Science Expo will take place at the Openbare Bibliotheek Amsterdam, the largest public library in the Netherlands.

Kennis Maken is a new national event focused on sharing knowledge and building connections in the field of citizen science. It is open to anyone involved in or supporting citizen science, whether from grassroots initiatives, societal organizations, universities, universities of applied sciences, research institutes, the public sector, or funding bodies.

The expo invites participants to:

  • Present their latest citizen science projects
  • Share insights, experiences, and good practices
  • Reflect on current challenges in the field

With a full-day program of presentations, discussions, and networking opportunities, the event aims to strengthen citizen science in the Netherlands and explore how collaborative research can create meaningful impact.

The expo is organized by Citizen Science Nederland, in collaboration with the Association of Lecturers (Vereniging van Lectoren) and Waag Futurelab.

The main language of the event will be Dutch, with some English sessions.

More information about the program and how to participate will be shared soon via their official channels. See https://citizenscienceexpo.nl/ and https://tickets.waag.org/citizen-science/kennis-maken/ for more information.
